Fact Sheet

Vote YES on SB 919

Voting yes on SB 919 will provide safety in the school environment for adolescents.  Passing this bill will enforce punishment such as suspension and expulsion to students who are caught sexting.  With these punishments applied, the hope is to eventually reduce sexting.

Currently there have been increasing cases of sexting among students.

Approximately 1 in 5 teens engage in sexting and most are pressured to participate in sexual activities.

If passed, educational programs funded by the government will be available for students.

Instead of facing legal charges, this bill will grant authority to schools to suspend or expel students caught sexting.

Will enhance school safety from potential bullying and harassment due to sexting.
